I’m so excited to share a coffee date with with my friend, Marisa! First a bit about Marisa:

I’ve been making cards for over 20 years, and somehow my love for paper has only grown stronger since high school. What started as a creative hobby quickly became my favorite way to relax, express myself, and connect with others through something handmade and heartfelt.
My style is clean and simple, but I’ll always say yes to thoughtful details, fresh layers, and color combinations that include pink. I love creating projects that feel polished but still approachable — the kind of cards that make someone smile the moment they pull them from the envelope.
You can usually find me crafting with products from Concord & 9th, Spellbinders, Hero Arts, and The Stamp Market, with music playing in the background and little scraps of cardstock covering my desk. Honestly, choosing the music for an Instagram post might be one of my favorite parts of sharing my projects. There’s something so fun about pairing a finished card with the perfect song.
Card making has been the hobby that has stayed with me through every season of life, and I’m so grateful to be part of such a creative and inspiring community of makers.

When Marisa and I were chatting back and forth about what supplies we should use, Marisa suggested the Spellbinders – Just Add Cake Birthday Cardmaking Kit. What a great idea! I love kits but sometimes it might take me a bit to use those said kits. Here is how Marisa was inspired:

Look at the fun interactive element that she added to her card:

I love her clean and simple design and how the arm extends past the card base. How lucky am I that I met her in person while at at Mama Elephant event in February. A big thank you to Marisa for joining me today!
Be sure to check out Marisa’s post over on her Instagram.
Here’s how I was inspired:

I love that both our cards used some of the same elements in the kit:
- mug
- HBD
- cupcake
- sentiment
I bought this kit as soon as it came out and this is the first card I designed using it. Thanks to Marisa for suggesting this kit, I had so much fun making this card.

My design is a playful take on the kit with that cute Chompster! Of course he’s keeping an eye on his cupcakes [chocolate with matcha frosting] while he downs his second cup of coffee.
