Guest Designer – April 17

We’re so excited to welcome back our April Guest Designer: Christine!

To all of us out there that need coffee to not feel everywhere is too “peopley”. Haha Haaa! This 5×7 card is for you! The moment I saw this Closer to Extinction stamp set by Pajama Crafters Stamps….I might have squealed out loud (ok, I did!) I LOVE how large the main image is and was so shocked at the details that this clear stamp set has. Usually it is rubber stamps that provide that level of detail to an image! It is a must have for this dinosaur lover, who happens to be a gramma to 3 dinosaur loving grandsons! Hope you like my 3rd guest design installment for the FAB Coffee Loving Paper Crafting Blog!

This card was a simple one. It is almost a one layer card. I added the fun “table” using Wood Planks Die set & Java Good Time paper pad (sanded & white acrylic paint brushed over the sanding) from at Brass and Bliss, which is the only dimension on the card. The 5×7 scallop card base is from Honeybee Stamps. Unity Stamps is the adorable (tiny to him) teacup and of course, the subsentiment…..Love it!

Started by a rough draft layout, once decided upon I used the Sunburst stencil, Chill ink, and Mango ink from Brass & Bliss to create a bit of grayed, yellow sunshine behind out dino riend. He is masked of course. Love lifting that mask for the reveal- how about you!

The sentiments are all stamped (not embossed) directly onto the card using a stamp positioner and versafine ink.

Then it was a matter of coloring him in sections (he is stamped on Blend it xpress cardstock.) and lastly diecutting the wood planks from the darkest Java Good time paper. Sanding the edges and top surface, then adding a quick swipe of white acrylic- allowing to dry. Gluing it to the panel in a pattern to create his table. I carefully cut just the underside of his claws and elbow to “seat” him at the table. The sweet mug is colored and fussy cut, too, to tuck into his first claw. :O) I added a thin foam piece under each claw and the mug top- glueing the bottom directly to the “table”. Then attached the panel to the Scallop card base. Done and just in the nick of time for a cup of delicious brew. Now I am ready to venture out among the masses and adult, today!
