Guest Designer | July 18

We are so excited to announce Beckie McArthur as our Guest Designer today!

Hi crafty friends! My name is Beckie McArthur and I’m excited for the opportunity to share a coffee card with you today.  I’ve been making cards for 20+ years along with some painting, jewelry making, crochet (and the list seems to go on and on).  I’ve always loved coffee themed cards (and coffee of course) and have been focusing on making these cards to donate to a local coffee shop owned by our community volunteer center.  It’s a fun way to give a purpose to my cards and the sales from the cards go towards the community.

Today, I’m sharing a card made using stamp sets from Your Next Stamp, Unity Stamp Co, and Picket Fence Studios.  I started this card by stamping ‘Down to the last cup’ by Picket Fence Studios in Hero Arts Unicorn ink on black cardstock.  I knew I wanted to somehow use this as a background on my card but was sure how (and honestly the white Unicorn ink can take a bit to fully dry) so this just sat on my desk for a few days, thinking about what it wanted to become.

Next I stamped ‘No Hoots Given” from Unity Stamp Co on Tim Holtz distress watercolor paper.  Watercolor is my favorite way to color in stamps and I’ve had good luck with this paper and like that it’s closer to white than some others.  For this owl I used Winsor and Newton watercolors and a waterbrush to color the image.  Once this was dry I use a circle die from Gina K Designs Master Layouts to cut the owl out.

Lastly I chose a sentiment that I could stamp on the top and bottom of the card, allowing me to center the square background in the middle.  For this I used ‘Coffee Sentiments’ from Your Next Stamp.

To finish this card I use a tape runner to attach the layers together and adhere to the card base.

I hope you enjoyed this card and it gave you a little inspiration.  Hopefully you were able to start your day with a magical substance too!
