Today’s Word of the Day
askew (adjective): not in a straight or level position, wrong, awry
Put those T rulers down my friends and embrace a design that is slightly askew!
That’s my word of the day. I’m impressed by paper crafters who align and center things just right. Me, admittedly lazy, often “eyeballing it,” things I create are unlikely to be centered or straight. Ya know what? I usually like the results, especially if it’s intentional.

My card today features fun products from Erin Lee Creative and Pink & Main.

Here is the full supply list for my card:
- Erin Lee Creative Jumbo Sentiments and Coordinating Dies
- Erin Lee Creative Coffee Heart Die
- Pink & Main Colorful Ink Spots Paper Pad
- Newton’s Nook Designs Coffee Silhouettes
- Honey Bee Stamps sequin mix
- Mailing tape, ribbon, brown alcohol markers and ink
I die cut the Coffee Heart several times in different papers to create my layers. In order to achieve a ceramic look to my top layer mug, I cut that with a scrap of white card stock covered by some clear mailing tape. I did the same with the stamped sentiment. I stamped the “love you,” covered it with tape, then cut it out with the coordinating die. I took a close up photo so you can see the results. Shiny, shiny, shiny!!!

I used a little teardrop bit of pink that fell out of one die cut as an embellishment & cut a few more hearts for more decorative details. Any mini heart shape would do – how nice, the Newtons Nook Coffee Silhouettes die set has one included!

So my humble advice today – embrace any results of your creativity. Maybe give yourself some grace next time your crafting, or life, seems askew!
