Guest Designer – April 15

We welcome back Carrie to the blog.  She’s shakin’ things up, check out her latest project!

I am delighted to be back on the blog, sharing my love of coffee and cards with all of you. Today, I have a whimsical little shaker card that I created for a coffee-loving sister of mine.  This design is full of cheerful colors, yummy little elements, and a delightful coffee shaker.

The shaker element for this card was cut using a die from Trinity Stamps.  It’s designed to create a window in your card with a coffee cup silhouette.  These types of dies make the perfect little shaker elements, but they are also great to use on your tags, window cards, and treat boxes.

I filled the shaker with a variety of multicolored clay bits and sequins to match the bright patterns in the Echo Park papers.  Those bold colors were a bit outside my comfort zone, but I know my sister is going to love them.

To add to the birthday theme, I cut a banner segment from one of the pattern papers and layered it across the top of the shaker.  This took a little bit of time to cut out, but it was worth the effort.

For the sentiment, I layered a few die cuts from the collection and placed them on the opposite side of the coffee cup.  The banner and the sentiment frame the simple shaker element and make it the focus of the card.

I can’t wait to see what you create!
