From Mary:
National Coffee Day is this week and Shanna and I are joining together today to celebrate.
This caffeinated bear from The Rabbit Hole Designs is my spirit animal. I truly am bear-ly awake before coffee! And my daughter has lovingly referred to me as Mama Bear for some time, so that was the inspiration behind this card.
I used the following items to create my card:
-The Rabbit Hole Designs Caffeinated Bear Stamp
-Window die from Photo Play
-Dare 2B Artzy Sunburst Stencil
-Hello Bluebird Charlie Alpha Dies
-BoBunny Sugar Glitter Paste
-Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxides
-Ranger Glossy Accents
I wanted to create a sparkly sunrise outside the window, so I ink blended the background with Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, and Kitsch Flamingo. Then, I placed my Sunburst stencil and added some more Mustard Seed ink to create the sun rays. To make my sun “shine,” I added Sugar glitter paste to the rays. I really like how sparkly this turned out!
Next,I die cut one window frame out of kraft card stock, and then die cut 2 more out of white card stock. I adhered them together with the kraft window frame as the front piece. Then, I cut the sunrise background to fit behind the window and adhered it to the back of the window frame. I die cut the mama bear letters, once out of pink card stock and once out of white, and glued them together.
Following the die cutting, I stamped the bear image in Copic friendly ink and colored her with Copic markers. I decided to color her robe to go with the sunrise. She looks adorable! I cut the bear out using my Scan ‘n Cut. I added some white craft foam to the back of the bear to add some dimension to the card.
I chose to go with a 5 x 7 inch, side folding kraft card base. I cut a white panel 4.5 x 6.5 inches and adhered it to the card base. I also added a piece of diagonally striped paper. Next, I played around with the placement of everything so I could determine where to stamp the sentiment. Once that was stamped, I adhered everything into place.
Lastly, I added glossy accents to the bear’s eyes and black glaze pen to her nose. I think adding those little touches makes the card a little more special.
Cheers to National Coffee Day!
From Shanna:
Hello! Shanna here today with some caffeinated fun featuring one of the caffeinated critters from super sponsor The Rabbit Hole Designs. Mary and I coordinated to use the critters line of stamps on our project for today—but didn’t realize until we had finished our projects that we BOTH chose the fun and quirky Caffeinated Bear! I paired him with some fun honeybee theme paper from Super Sponsor Not 2 Shabby as well!
I paper pieced the bear’s robe, then copic colored the bear in complimentary colors to match the fun paper! I layered it all up and then fussy added the bear with some foam tape. I finished it off with some honey glaze I had from a previous My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts too! I thought it looked fun for the cup to have honey flowing over, and tied the bear further into the paper! I am in love with the final project LOL.
Are you enjoying the National Coffee week festivities?? I absolutely LOVE being part of such an amazing and generous crafting community! I will see you all again soon!
Stay crafty—Shanna
