Guest Designer – May 14

We’re back with another one of our Designer Picks from the 2021 Spring Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop:

Hi friends old and new! My name is Julee Tilman and I’m so honored to be one of the May Guesties! (Happy dance!!!) To say that coffee and I are besties is probably a bit of an understatement! I discovered this black elixir of life right about the time I discovered stamping, and my love for both has only grown deeper through the years!

I’ve been stamping since the early 90’s and blogging my creations since 2007 over on my blog Poetic Artistry. I have great love for coffee stamps, illustrating over 30 coffee, tea, and cocoa inspired clear and digital stamp sets first for Verve Stamps and more recently have some new and old digis releasing with Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps. I spend my free time sipping coffee, making messes in my studio, curating my extensive collection of crafting supplies, and trying to keep up with my 9 year old twin boys. Life is good… and even better with coffee!

My first card today features an adorable stamp set from Newton’s Nook. I have long admired their sweet stamps, and finally tried them out during a recent sale. Love! I began by stamping Newton and his cuppa and the three other cups from the Newton Loves Coffee set in copic safe ink and colored with Copics. I fussy cut each one and layered them together to create a little scene, then masked off a floor with tape and blended some brown distress inks.

I then moved the tape to cover the floor and used the Roundabout Stencil from Taylored Expressions, first in salvaged patina, then turned the stencil a quarter turn and stenciled with twisted citron. I turned one more quarter turn and used salvaged patina to achieve the color I wanted. I think it looks like a fun wallpaper design. The sentiment cracks me up and is exactly what I envision my cat Moka is saying to me when she rubs up against me while my coffee is brewing. I stamped the coffee bean stamp below it several times and then layered everything together.

My second card features Whimsy Stamps. I adore this smiling iced coffee image from the Cool Beans set and colored him up with Copics, then fussy cut. Next I grabbed a panel of white cardstock and the Taylored Expressions Sunray Mini Slim Stencil and stenciled with squeezed lemonade and mustard seed distress inks. I finished with a sweet sentiment from the Beaucoup Bouquet Sentiments set.

Thanks so much for having me here today! I puffy heart love this coffee loving community and am so happy to be able to share these projects with you.
