It’s time for Brew & Craft Your Stash and time to get our crafty inspiration from a new magazine, or in this case two magazines!! We are looking for inspiration from Paper Crafters Handmade Cards and Card Creations for Him! Both are from 2013!
Today we are getting our inspiration from Card Creations for Him! The next page in the Smart & Geeky section includes four cards. One card has a superman theme, another one for a teacher. The other two are game-themed, one a board game the other a video game.
I took inspiration from the game-themed cards and made a coffee and hammer card. While my card is intended for a boy, I did;t want the typical blue/green color scheme. Instead, I pulled out some purple, orange, and red Catherine Pooler inks. For the background, I wanted to have coffee mugs and do some ink blending.
I pulled out some Simon Says Stamp Masking paper and used the mug from STAMPlorations Tag O’Coffee die set. I randomly placed the mugs on my Bristol paper panel. Then with my Catherine Pooler inks, I ink blended the three colors. Last I used some black ink and a touch of water to add black splatters. I set the panel aside to dry.
Next, I pulled out The Stamps of Life Hot Chocolate die set and cut the mug from white card stock. Then I used Funky Fossil Designs Gamer stamp set to stamp a sentiment and a loading image on the coffee mug.
I also stamped the video game controller, the chevron, and the bull’s eye-looking image with the same inks I used on my background. Then I fussy cut them out.
After my spatter was all dry, I used my tweezers to pull off the masking coffee cups. Then I added the coffee mug, game controller, and other elements to the card with foam tape.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this inspires you to pull out your Smart & Geeky stamps and make some cards!!
Dana
