Amy @card.chick is back with us again!
Hello everybody, it’s Amy @card.chick from Instagram with another caffeine inspired card. This time, I ended up creating a card that was very different from my original design. Perhaps, you can relate….

Originally, I wanted a colorful stripe of three blended distress oxide ink colors (cracked pistachio, worn lipstick and fossilized amber) across a white rectangular card front. Unfortunately, I did not mask my card properly so I ended up with distress oxide ink smudges around the edges which I then proceeded to try to rub off with an eraser and a wet cloth in my sad attempts to save it. Needless to say, that was a terrible idea. My cardstock pilled and wrinkled in the areas that were wet. Doh. To cover my mistakes, I glued blue cardstock strips to the top and the bottom of the card front. I then added foam tape on the rectangular card front to adhere it to the light blue card base.

I then stamped 3 little coffee mugs from Lawn Fawn’s “Love You a Latte” stamp set. I used the following copic marker colors to try to loosely match the distress oxide inks: Green mug (YG23, G82, G00), orange mug (YR23, YR24, YR27) and pink mug (R21, R22, R43) and E87 for the coffee. I popped up the mugs and the sentiment with foam squares to give the card dimension.
I also added three sequins to the center of the card to give it a little sparkle. This card ended up being much bluer than I had initially imagined, but I’m absolutely satisfied with the end product.

Thank you for joining me on my third post. I’d love to hear about some of the “mistakes” you’ve made while going through your own creative process but that you loved at the end. After all, that is part of the fun. See you soon!
XOXO
