We’re happy to have our February Guest Designer Claire back with us today!
Hello caffeinated crafters!
I’m back again this week to share my second card as guest designer! This week, I decided to try the new mini slimline trend. I absolutely love regular slimline cards, but sometimes I have trouble filling all the space the card provides, so I thought the mini size would be fun to try!

To start my card, I stamped the cactus images from the Cuppa Cactus stamp set from Newton’s Nook in a Copic-safe black ink. Then, I colored my images using the following Copic combinations:
Cactus: G46, G24, G43, G40
Pink: RV25, RV04, RV23, RV21
Orange: YR07, YR04, YR12, YR31
Yellow: Y08, Y05, Y00
Next, I cut three small rectangles using a nesting die set. (The approximate size of the rectangles I used is 1.5 x 1.75 inches.) On two of the squares, I ink blended using Picked Raspberry Distress Ink, and on the third panel, I ink blended using Gina K Wild Dandelion ink. On the yellow panel, I stamped the sentiment “I’m a little prickly before my coffee!” which is also in the Cuppa Cactus stamp set. On the two pink panels, I adhered the cactus images using foam tape.

Using the new Mini Slimline Scalloped Edge Dies from Kat Scrappiness, I die cut a white panel that measures about 5 x 2.5 inches. After that, I cut a panel from white paper that measures about 5.25 x 2.75 inches. On the larger panel, I ink blended with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink.
Next, I glued my small rectangle panels to the white scalloped panel, and then glued that to the Spiced Marmalade panel. Lastly, I made a card panel that measures 5.5 x 6 inches with a scoreline at the three inch mark. I adhered my panels to the cardbase using strong double-sided tape, added glossy accents to the flowers, and my card was finished!
