Happy Friday! Our October Guest Designer, Mary Reiner, is back today with a fabulous card and a wonderful story!
I owe my introduction to coffee to my mother. She was an avid coffee drinker and she was also a talented writer. She wrote a weekly column titled “Coffee Break” for a local newspaper and her column was often humorous and usually about our family.
I, however, did not get the writing gene. I am really not very good at communicating in general, and I think that is why I like to make cards. I love a good sentiment! I think it is easier for me to express myself through card making.
I dedicate this card to my mama! I know she would love that I am able to spend some of my day being creative.
I love this cup from Graciellie Designs for Unity Stamp Co. and knew it was just the image I wanted to color for this week’s card. I also wanted to give this a Fall vibe which led me to my color palette.
For my card, I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I knew I was going to be coloring this with Copic Markers and this ink is Copic friendly. Next, I fussy cut the cup and flowers. For my background, I stamped Tim Holtz’s Birch and Pine background stamp in Gina K Designs Kraft ink and die cut it with a stitched rectangle. I also die cut the Cozy Cup Coaster from the Greetery out of black cardstock. I adhered everything to my card base using Art Glitter Glue. I placed a bit of fun foam behind my cup to give my card some dimension. Lastly, I stamped my sentiment from MFT’s Perk Up stamp set.
I’m happy to report that my daughter, Claire, did get the writing gene! She happily edits my blog for me. Maybe I should give this card to Claire…Thanks a Latte!
