It’s time for Brew & Craft Your Stash!! Challenge #53 in the 75 Creative Card Challenges Magazine by Paper Crafts 2013!! Grab your drink of choice and get ready for some great crafty ideas!!!
Challenge #53 – Use Wood Grain. Wood grain comes in many forms, embossing folders, pattern paper, actual wood and stamps, just to name a few! The designers in the magazine created four cards each using one of the forms mentioned above!! I’m sure you have some type of wood grain in your stash!! Grab it and make something with it!!
My card features actual wood, I think its balsa wood. It comes on some paper, in a pack that I have had for-ever!!! I actually wanted to stamp and heat emboss on it, I did the embossing first, but some of the paper was peeling from the wood. I tried to heat it some more, but some areas wasn’t budging. I think I will try soaking off the paper, but didn’t want to take the time to do that, so instead I just my stamping.
I used Pinkfresh Studio’s Chevron Background stamp set to first stamp the darker aqua color and then the lighter color. I used ink from Catherine Pooler on the background.
Next, I pulled Waffle Flower Stamps Books & Coffee stamp set and did some stamping with a touch of masking. I used my Copic markers to color everything up. Then I fussy cut around the top of the images.
Then I found some matching card stock and used a fancy edge to cut the top. I stamped and gold heat embossed with Wow Embossing Powder the sentiment. Next, I adhered my image to the card stock. I wrapped some twine around the card stock and then adhered it to the stamped wood panel. Last, I adhered it to a black card base.
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope this inspires you to pull out that wood grain and use it on a project!!
Dana
