Brew & Craft Your Stash – Add a Decorative Edge

Hello Coffee Lovers!!

It’s time for Brew & Craft Your Stash!! Challenge #52 in the 75 Creative Card Challenges Magazine by Paper Crafts 2013!! Grab your drink of choice and get ready for some great crafty ideas!!!

Challenge #52 – Add a Decorative Edge. The four cards for the decorative edge challenge all have fancy edges achieved by punches or die cuts! Some have fancy horizontal edges, others fancy vertical edges!

After making my card and looking at the Challenge magazine again, I should have left the fancy edge alone, but I wanted it to be easily seen so a contrasting color was added.

My card started with a pinking (think pinking shears) edge die, this die is many years old, though I have hardly used it and I have no idea who made it! But, I used washi tape to hold it at the edge of my white card base.

After cutting it I played around colors and stamps to make sure I liked the color combos. I finally went with some Catherine Poolers greens and oranges to stamp Waffle Flowers Stitched Cup of Tea stamp set. I stamped the tea pot and cup directly on my card base. Then I fussy cut one of my experiments out and added it to my card with foam tape.

To give the tea, cup and macaroon something to sit on I added a little bit of brown, blending it out to nothing. Below this I stamped the sentiment in black ink.

Last I added matching purple to the back of my top fold card. I wanted the fancy edge to really be seen. I also used the purple to cover all of the top fold, so you wouldn’t see a partial piece when opened.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope that this inspires you to also pull out and use those older fancy edge dies or punches!!
