Coffee Date with Maria Russell!

Hip, Hip Hooray!  it is Coffee Date day!

Hey friends!  Katie back again for the second time this week! Today I am excited to have my friend Maria Russell joining me for a coffee date. Here is her beautiful and friendly self:

You can pretty much tell by looking at her she is fun and playful.  I have been lucky to be on two DTs with Maria and I can verify that to be true.  Here is what Maria shared about herself:

Hello everyone! My name is Maria Russell, and I am a happily married wife and mom to two amazing kids (who are now responsible adults, LOL!).  Hubby and I are empty-nesters so I have more time now to create cards.  I am lucky enough to be on different design teams and I am so grateful for this wonderful hobby.  Aside from paper-crafting, I love animals, traveling and photography.

Maria has a SUPER cute card today that is bound to make you smile.

Here is how she made her card:

  • I stamped the coffee image on some Neenah solar white card stock and colored it in with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I used my Scan N Cut machine to die-cut the image.
  • I ink-blended an A2 size panel of Bristol smooth white card stock with Squeezed Lemonade and Picked raspberry.  I sprayed this piece with water using my distress sprayer and use my paper towel to dry.   I adhered this piece on a white side-fold card base.
  • I used the Stitched Circles Cover Panel Confetti cuts to die-cut the background and foam-mounted this piece on top of the ink-blended panel.  I adhered my colored image with foam adhesive.
  • Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on some rich cocoa card stock with Versamark ink. I sprinkled some white embossing powder and heat set with my heating tool.

Seriously so cute, that nose!  And of course the sentiment is all too true!

Here is my card for today:

Here is how I made my card:

  • I used the Concord and 9th Coffee Blend Turnabout to create a backdrop on a bit of white cardstock 4 X 5.25.  I used my distress inks- Worn Lipstick, Crushed Olive, Peacock and Scattered Straw to create the different colors.
  • While this dried, I stamped the image from MFT (purchased from Super Sponsor DoodlebugsWA) on Copic friendly paper and used my Scan N Cut to cut it out.
  • I colored her in Copics that were complimentary to the colors I chose on the backdrop and added a few white highlights with my gel pen.
  • Next, I cut a slim strip of olive cardstock and repeatedly stamped my sentiment.
  • I adhered the sentiment to the backdrop, mounted the backdrop onto the base and then popped my little coffee loving friend up using foam tape.

We make a pretty good pair if I don’t say so myself!  Maria lives far away, but love being on teams with her and having her here for this coffee date.  Please leave her a comment to tell her how fabulous she is and feel free to visit her blog as well.

Thanks for visiting us today. 🙂  Inky Hugs and Caffeinated Dreams!~ Katie
