Hello Coffee Lovers!!
It’s time for Brew & Craft Your Stash!! Challenge #42 in the 75 Creative Card Challenges Magazine by Paper Crafts 2013!! Grab your drink of choice and get ready for some great crafty ideas!!!
Challenge #42 – Use Wiggle Eyes. Personally I call them googly eyes, but the four cards in the magazine use them in some unique ways!! One cut out a window in the shape of a 5 and filled it with big googly eyes. Two cards used googly eyes in a more typical way as eyes on a stamped image and a monster shaped card. The final card used symbols to spell out I Love You, with a googly eye, heart and the letter u. So fun!!
When I saw the challenge was googly eyes, I started think about how I wanted to use them. Eventually I got an idea that I wasn;t sure if it would turn out like I pictured it in my head. But it went well I and I really like it!!
I started with a coffee mug die from The Stamps of Life, Hot Chocolate die set. I cut some watercolor card stock with the die. Then I used two purple Distress Oxides inks. I did a little watercolor smooching with the mug.
Then I added a few different sized googly eyes to the coffee mug, making a coffee mug monster!! I thought the monster did a little fluff, but how to add it and make it stand up!
From my stash I found these wire flourishes with pearl like beads at the tips. I wrapped two different bakers twine around each branch and then adhered the twine. I trimmed it down and was able to add it to the back of the coffee mug! And wa-la my coffee mug monster!!
For a background I used an older Simon Says Stamp tiny heart background. Using the same Distress Oxide inks, spritzing them with some water and then stamping it. Then I used Simon Says Stamp Monster Hugs stamp set, with the Monster Hugs sentiment.
I used some thick foam tape, since the monster antennas were a bit cumbersome! Then I added the sentiment and last rounded the corners.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this encourages you to break out your googly eyes one your projects!!
Dana
