Welcome to a new Caffeine Fueled Paper Play, The Challenge! If you haven’t heard, the first Wednesday of each month we’re starting a new challenge! Just create something new with a Coffee, Tea or Cocoa Theme using any past or present Sponsor here at the CLC Coffee, Tea or Cocoa related product and link it up for your chance to win! This month Miss Ink is our sponsor!! Woo hoo! Did you hear that Miss Ink is having a mini release of some new stencils and you can comment over on their Instagram giveaway post here for a chance to win them too! Now, on with our challenge! I’ve used one of the new stencils in this month’s inspiration post and here’s how I was inspired:
So I wondered how things would go if I used a sponge to apply some Decofoil Transfer Gel using the new Stripes Stencil. I did not apply a lot.. just a thin coat of the gel and spread it over the stripes from right to left. I let it dry and then applied some Rainbow Decofoil. I was very pleased when it came out a little distressed looking! You may know how I love imperfect things! I stamped the beautiful coffee plant florals from the Brewtiful set on copic friendly paper intending to color them, but nothing seemed quite right against the striped rainbow background which, even though it was distressed was still quite bright.
Finally, I wondered what would happen if I used my Decofoil Adhesive Pen to loosely color in the leaves and then let it dry a bit. I cut the Rainbow Decofoil down to small pieces and covered the leaves with the blue/green/yellow strips and ran it through the Minc. Then I added the glue to the berries and applied the red/pink strips I’d cut. And lastly I added some dots to the flower petals and ran that through with gold foil. I thought the look was cool, however I felt the need to distress it a bit so I used the little brush on the non pokey end of the tool I use to take the tiny pieces of paper out of my dies and scraped it across the leaves/berries/flowers and it was exactly what I wanted!
I was going to just stamp and heat emboss the XO (aka X Coffee Cup…lol) and then I thought… why stop there!? So I pulled out a glue pad I have had forever and stamped the images onto cardstock with it; let it dry a bit and ran it through the Minc. It spread a bit so the lines weren’t sharp, but as I was going with the distressed look anyway, I decided it was just right! I know it’s very different, but I love the look of it! A bit of Shabby Chic Rainbow!
And there it is in all of it’s shabby beauty. You may or may not like it and it’s ok if you don’t! It’s really just the result of me wondering what might happen if I….. insert query here! I am definitely going to play with all of these things and more!
