Welcome to a new Caffeine Fueled Paper Play! This time around I’m playing along over at the July Creative Confetti Challenge at Power Poppy By Marcella Hawley which is Be Inspired!
There are new prompts every Tuesday and you can link up all month for your chance to win a randomly drawn $25 gift certificate to the shop! I’m playing along with last Tuesday’s Be Inspired Challenge… you look back at the Release Week projects by the Design Team and get inspired.. choose something … a specific card or technique and use it as a cue for your challenge entry! I chose a card by DT member, Kathy Jones… here is her card:
It’s a beauty, isn’t it?? And here’s how I was inspired:
I was inspired by the stenciled background… I loved the brick, but knowing the images that I wanted to use, I chose the Basketweave stencil from Super Sponsor Funky Fossil Designs. I used some Old Paper Distress Ink to add the stenciled pattern similar to Kathy’s and then removed the stencil and added a bit more distress ink to create a sort of halo around the card. I chose to add some splatters using my Paul Rubens Glitter Watercolors because that’s how I am…lol!
I used images from two Power Poppy sets; the beautiful Tea In The Garden and Short Stacks were perfect and filled up the space nicely… although I did realize that I absolutely need some of the gorgeous florals available in the Power Poppy shop.. I think I get overwhelmed trying to choose…lol! But soon!! I colored the images with my Copics and added additional detail with Prismacolor pencils. Kathy’s card is nice and flat for mailing, but you know me! I have piles of pop up tape in my stash and I aim to use it all! So I cut my images out and popped them up at various heights but in the same general space as my inspiration… because I loved the layout of the card!
I also popped up my sentiment using a die from Spellbinders and added a couple extra strawberries and a flower from the Tea In The Garden set to the top corner rather than the embellishments that Kathy used. Then I added a few sequins from Craftin Desert Divas and I was done!
How will you be inspired? It was so much fun to take a stroll through the release projects!
This Tuesday’s prompt is Christmas in July! And even better there is also a sale that runs through Thursday, July 12th!
Hope you’ll play along with me over there!
