Design Team Close-Up: Kerry Urbatch

Hello there Coffee Loving Crafters!  It’s Kerry here and I’m back for another Sunday Sip! …

Yeah, that’s what I always say!  Well today, it’s a little different because I have the task of sharing a little bit about myself in our DT Close-Up feature!  OH GEEEZZEEE..Here goes!

So yeah, I’m Kerry and I’ve been a part of the Coffee Loving Crafters Design team since I think 2016.  WOW!  Time flies.  It all started with one of those Coffee Lovers Blog Hops.  You, know…The hops that last a week and are full of inspiration and FABULOUS PRIZES?  Well, I was participating and hopping along day after day and after the hop was over, someone who loves GREEN and stamps and Coffee and FUN contacted me and asked me if I’d like to join the team.  I was thrilled!  So I started thinking about the type of feature posts I would create.  I came up with a Sip and Share theme, whipped up a fancy logo and banner and got to work on creating.  My Sip and Share feature posts are every Sunday.  At one point, I was creating a card sketch challenge but I decided recently to hang up the sketches and just focus on creating.

So some personal deets about me:  I’m a Kindergarten teacher during the day and a crafty gal at night and on weekends.  I live in a crazy busy suburb of Washington, DC and it really isn’t me as I love the slow pace and wide open space in the country.  I’ll get back there eventually!  I love creating and just getting lost in the process of making.  I have a tiny teacup (he’s 3.15 pounds and six years old) Schnauzer named Mighty Mason who hangs out beside me all the while I’m crafting.  We live in a small house that can’t fit much more crafty goods or pottery…Oh yeah, other than coffee and crafting, I collect handmade ceramic pottery (which often appears in my card photos).  My collection includes mugs, tea bowls, cups and tumblers, bowls, plates, teapots and some unique pieces.  Someday when I retire I hope to have a space where I can have a pottery studio/craft studio…with a bathroom, sink and lots of storage space.

So that’s a bit about me!  Now lets get on to the card I’m sharing today!  I created this card to highlight some of my creative loves:  1. cute images 2. backgrounds (paint) 3. machine stitching 4. ribbon and twine 5. coloring 6. doodling.  My favorite color is blue too.   Notice the fun teacup?  Yes, that’s one of my most favorite teacups made by an uber talented porcelain artist named Heesoo Lee.  She is currently featured at the ClayAkar Gallery online so check out her work HERE.

I colored this adorable image called “Warming up together” by Dreamerland Crafts using Neocolor II Watercolor Pastels.  The stamp is available at Super Sponsor Butterfly Reflection Ink’s shop HERE

After coloring the image (which may seem perfect for winter), I decided to put a spring twist on it by doodling a spring scene.  I added some annoying carpenter bees that are flying around my backyard, a springy little tree with branches and buds ready to bloom.  I colored the tree with Copic Markers.

The background paper was just painted with blue and gray acrylic paint.  When it dried, I used my sewing machine to create some texture and meandered all over one edge.  That’s my favorite kind of machine stitching.

I wonder…Did you take the time to read all my rambling?  Did you just pop over to see my card?  I wonder, wonder, wonder.  Whether you read every word or just looked at the pictures, I thank you for popping over to check things out.  I’m off to get another cup of coffee…with a little cream and no sugar.  See you soon!

Thanks so much Becca…I saw this Canadian company featured at Creativation this year and I searched high and low to find a USA online seller and couldn’t find one so I asked Butterfly Recollections to check out their booth! She was so sweet and ordered the ones I wanted and WOO EEE…I love ’em. Thanks for reading every word too! Hee hee… ❤
