Hi all, we’re starting a new feature to spotlight the design team over the next couple of months. We’ve had an increase in the amount of caffeinated friends that have joined the Coffee Loving Papercrafters Facebook Group so we thought it was a good time to do some new intros.
Hello! I’m Dana and today it’s my Design Team Close Up! I’ve been crafting for about 15ish years and it all started because I tried my hand at Quilling! I wanted a way to use my quilled pieces and my mom was making cards, so I gave it a try and well the rest is history!!
I’ve been a full-time student for the past two years working on my bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science. I am happy to report that I am in my last semester, which is all about the internship!! Well a few other things like studying, project and tests too, but it’s been so fun learning to put the information and skills I’ve learned over the past two years to use! I’ll graduate in early May and will either have a job by then or shortly after! And I am so ready to have a job and be making some money again!!
The past two years I’ve been living across the state on campus, of course I brought along some of my craft supplies. But, now I’m back home, luckily close enough to drive to my internship! Since I hadn’t seen the craft supplies I left at home for two years, I did a major clean, reorganization and purge as I moved my crafty stuff back in.
So, I thought I would share my craft space with you! I’m always on the look out for a better way to organize my supplies!! This is my half of the craft room; my mom has the other side.
My stuff fits on one shelf, a desk (and under it), along with about 1/3 of another desk! My ink pads and markers are right in front where I can see them. My coffee stamps and the majority of my most used are in a big plastic three drawer under the desk.
My 12 x 12 paper are in several plastic bins. I share a part of one shelf with my mom’s ironing stuff. I have some clear shoe drawers from the Container Store, they hold my washi tape, wood veneer, gems/enamel dots, ribbon/twine and buttons. I have one that has my extra sequins and similar items. I house my sequins in this container, I love it! In fact I’m going to need another soon!!
This metal drawer holds my stand alone dies. I’m in the process of moving the sheets of magnets to the same clear pockets I use for my stamps. Some of the dies would fall off, but in the pockets, they stay together, at least. They fit horizontally in the drawer nicely and will eventually get them done and will add some tabs to separate similar dies.
Stamps that are not under my desk are in these longer metal drawers. When I have my own place again I’m going to get a bunch of those clear fridge containers to house all of my stamps!!
I reorganized my embossing powders, pastes and spray inks into these shallow containers. My 6 x 6 paper pads, which you can barely see are in a dollar store green basket.
When I’m living on my own again, I am going to invest in some Ikea drawers and shelving and hope to have an even better organized craft room!!
I hope you liked this little look at my crafting space! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Dana
