Caffeine Fueled Paper Play – Rubbernecker Stamps!

Welcome to a new Caffeine Fueled Paper Play!  This week I’m playing along with the Rubbernecker Create and Share Challenge on Instagram!  Yup!  Super Sponsor Rubbernecker Stamps hosts their challenge on Instagram now!  Just create anything using Rubbernecker Stamps products and post on Instagram… this month’s hashtag is #rnchallenge19 and you could win a $25 Gift Voucher to the shop!

Here’s how I was inspired:

Well, of course my normal go to over at Rubbernecker is their wide collection of adorable owl coffee stamps and they were taken out and placed on my table as I started to create… but then I decided to use this cool Word Bubble die from Spellbinders to create a shaped card.  When I bought these dies I had no idea they were so big… I was just looking for various shapes and sizes of word bubbles for sentiments.. but I was thrilled when I thought about making a shaped card when I saw it!   So I took it out, folded my white cardstock in half and cut out the card base by hanging the top cut over the edge of the fold so it didn’t cut there.

Next, I stamped the awesome Coffee Bean Background from Rubbernecker onto a white piece of cardstock using Versamark and heat embossed it in white.  I used various colors of distress inks (oxides and not) and blended them over the background in a rainbow pattern because in March I’m all about the rainbows… you may even see a rainbow Christmas card this month!  When I was finished blending, I wiped over the top with a clean paper towel to remove the ink from the embossed bits.

I used my Paul Rubens Glitter Watercolors to splatter on some more rainbow before I cut that layer down into a square and rounded the corners to fit on the Word Bubble shaped card.

The reason I loved the idea of using the Word Bubble shape for this one was because I knew I was going to use this bold May Your Coffee sentiment and it would be the center of attention!  I embossed it onto black paper die cut with a retired die from CC Designs that was just the right shape and size.

I decided the owls wouldn’t really fit on this card, so I turned to my other Rubbernecker stamps and this stack of cups from the Coffee Blanket stamp set caught my eye!  It was the perfect shape to go along with that sentiment and compliment it.  I decided to color it so that the layers sort of coordinated with the pattern of the rainbow behind it… putting a little unexpected colors here and there with dots since the rainbow wasn’t an even pattern… I love how it came out!  I just added a few clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and a few coordinating colored ones from my stash and I was done!

I hope you enjoyed your visit!  And I hope you’ll play along with the Rubbernecker Stamps Challenge on Instagram!  Be sure to follow them here and use the hashtag #rnchallenge19 when you post!

Thanks for stopping and be sure to come back often for more inspiration!
