February 8 – Guest Designer

Esther is back with us again with a spectacular project.

Hello friends! Today I have a soft pink card featuring an adorable little “kitten in a cup” from an Etsy shop I recently discovered called Pickled Potpourri.

To create today’s card I began by embossing a piece of light pink card stock with the Lace Embossing folder from Tim Holtz. I matted this on kraft cardstock and added half of a coffee stained doily to the left side.

Here’s how I make my own coffee stained doilies:

  1. Dissolve 2 Tablespoons instant coffee in 3/4 cup hot water
  2. Dip paper doily in coffee and place on an old towel
  3. Dry with a heat gun
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 till your satisfied with the color
  5. Using a small paintbrush, splatter some coffee over your dry doilies for added effect
  6. Dry with a heat gun and flatten with a warm iron

Next I, stamped a sentiment from He Will Sustain You (Unity Stamp Company) on white card stock and die cut with the Dotted Oval Dies (Sizzix).

I sponged some Tattered Rose Distress Oxide (Ranger) around the edges before removing from the die.

After adhering it to the left side of my card, I added a tiny bow of sheer pink ribbon.

I printed off the sweet little kitten image from the Cupfuls of Happiness Digital Stamp Set (Pickled Potpourri), and colored it with my Prismacolor Pencils.

Once finished, I added a bit of Clear Glitter (Studio G) to the polka-dots and hair bow.

To finish off my card, I placed a strip of tiny white pearls in the upper right corner.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post and will visit me on my Blog (Shoregirl’s Creations) or Instagram page. Until next time…..happy crafting!
