We have February Guest Designer Shanna Slater wrapping up her time with us. We’ve so enjoyed her projects this month. Stay tuned to the end of this post where we recap her other projects she shared earlier this month.
Hello crafty friends! This is Shanna, and I am back today with my final Guest DT project for January! I had a lot of fun creating AND being utterly inspired by everyone’s ahh-mazing projects during the most recent Fall/Winter CLBH, and was the lucky recipient of a flash prize from super sponsor Crafty Doodle Chick! YAY! I had fun picking out some goodies, and today I am showcasing one of them!

I used Gerda Steiners’s Coffeesauraus stamp set for my project today to make a Valentine for my oldest son (who is 9). He jokes around all the time saying how much I *looooooovvvveee* coffee, so this was perfect! I stamped him onto some bristol paper and watercolored hiim with my Zig markers. Super cute and pretty quick too! I cut him out with my Brother Scan n Cut to make things even simpler for me.

I knew I wanted to make a little scene for him to stand on, but my die cut collection is a bit limited. I actually ended up freehanding the “hill” piece and cutting it out by hand. I masked off a straight edge between the sea and sky and the background just came together. I used a variety of distress inks and my Blendability Brush from Trinity Stamp Company as well. I am totally in love with that brush still!!! I usually have to blend on bristol paper for a good even blend, but I will let you in on a secret. This project was done on cheapo Wal-Mart 110 lb white cardstock! And the ink still blended decently!! I am calling that a crafty win in this house!!

After the background was all inked up, I lightly splattered some water on the sea to add some interest between the sea and sky. I had some of Echo Park’s fantastic dinosaur paper from their Dino Friends collection and really wanted to use it with this adorable dino! The embossed panel was made with the embossing folder from the same paper collection ( I have 2 small boys, need I say more?? LOL) I really like the texture the white embossed panel gave.

Lastly, I stamped my sentiment directly on my background using Memento black ink, and ended the card by popping up my dino friend with foam tape.
Well crafty friends, that wraps up my last project here. It has been a LOT of fun being a guest designer here on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog, and quite the honor for this crafty & caffeinated girl! I hope you all enjoyed my projects, and I will “see” you around for sure!
