Sunday Sip: Crafty Playdate!

Hello there coffee loving crafters!  It’s Kerry here and I’m back with another fun Sunday Sip!  It’s quite a fun one, I must say!  Why?  You may ask.  Well, I got to spend some crafty time with a longtime cardmaking buddy (all the way back to our The Angel Company days) and CTMH Super Sponsor Chris Franco yesterday!  WOOP WOOP!  We have a lot in common, live within driving distance and have not had a chance to get together in like FOREVER!  Yesterday, we made that happen and I was so thrilled to spend the afternoon with her (and her sweet, sweet pooch).  We visited, crafted, snacked, crafted, and visited some more.  It was wonderful! Chris set up her kitchen table with all kinds of goodies to play with.  Current and retiring products from Close to My Heart were on the table and she gave me free reign to just play!  I decided I’d use some of these products to create a fun card for my post today!

Guess how many cards I created in the three and a half hours we spent together?  Five, Ten?  NOPE.  ONE…well, almost one.  I took the pieces and parts home so I could finish it off, but ONE card (and a few adorable treat boxes)!  HEE HEE…

I selected several products that will be retiring at the end of the month and a few products that will continue into the new catty and some brand spankin’ new products that will be available in January.

Retiring and/or on Clearance:  All about the Gold Fundamentals Clear Cardstock (the treat boxes were made with this!), Boutique Printed cardstock, Craftermath (hostess reward set)

Current and Returning product:  Decorative Borders Dies, Favor Box Die, Fancy Tags (coordinates with the Custom Tags stamp set I used)

NEW in January:  Custom Tags, Card Captions (January Stamp of the Month)

After diecutting the round scalloped tag, I stamped the little squiggly circle insert with some yummy CTMH ink.  I forgot to write the name of it down…oops!  After that, I stamped the crafty mug with the new Intense Black ink and colored with her Copic Markers.  That ink worked perfectly with Copics!  No bleed and nice and crisp impression!  After coloring, I stamped the image again on the gray printed paper that comes in the paper pack and fussy cut it so that it could be paper pieced onto the crafty cup.

Next, I assembled the background panel.  I diecut the little fancy leafy border onto some mustard yellow printed paper then attached the negative to a piece of the pink-ish printed paper from the collection.  After that, I cut a strip of the triangle printed paper and mounted it onto the “chalkboard-like” printed paper.  I love the typed words on this paper!  So sad it will be retiring soon. I gathered all my pieces and set them aside so I could assemble everything at home.

After finishing the parts to my card, Chris diecut some cute treat boxes for me out of the fun golden clear cardstock and she showed me how to assemble them.  Pretty darned easy!  I decided that I would put some chocolate covered coffee beans in one and some fresh roasted coffee beans in the other (when I got home).

After coming home, I sat down and assembled everything.  I added some sheer ribbon and some coordinating twine (Hemptique) and filled the treat boxes.  I added some white gumballs to the one with coffee beans too. After assembling, it was on to photographing!

I definitely had sooo much fun catching up with Chris.  It’s been some time since we have seen each other and I so enjoyed the time we shared.  Although I loathe taking selfies, I felt it was necessary to document this fun event- so here you go!  It sure was a fun time!  (OH YUCK- I need to go on a diet, I need to color my hair AND I need to look at the lens when I am taking a photo.  UGHHH).

So there you have it!  We had a great time and I’m so glad Chris invited me over for a playdate!  WOOP WOOP!

And here’s the sketch challenge!  If you would like to continue with our crafty playdate, please create a card using this sketch.  Please load your project to our inlinkz below.  We’d love to see what you create!

It was so fun. I am amazed I was able to do two things at once! Taking and crafting are like walking and talking. I just can’t. 😂. At least I almost finished the card!!! Thanks again! We will definitely have to do it again soon!

Looks like you both had fun. Wished I lived nearby. I am horrible at taking selfies with my cell camera. I’d rather be behind the camera and when I mean camera I mean my Canon with all kinds of lenses. Merry Christmas!

It was so fun! And to think we have been only saying hi-and-bye at scrapping events/vendor fairs for ages!
