Coffee Loving Papercrafters

Hello there coffee loving crafters!  It’s Kerry here and I’m back with another fun Sunday Sip! On the way to work each day, I stop by Starbucks to pick up my mobile order.  I usually order a Grande House Blend in a Venti Cup.  I love hopping out of my car and swooping in to grab my cup of coffee. Well, this week, I’ve been picking up some mighty pretty cups!  How about you?

Every day while I sip my coffee and drive to work, I think crafty thoughts about the pretty cups and the fun speckledy sleeves.  So this weekend, I decided I would hold on to one of the cups so that I could replicate the design in card form.

I think this leafy design cup is my most favorite so this is the one that has really inspired me to create a card.  I think I’ll drop it off when I pick up my coffee on Monday.  🙂

To create my card, I just used the leafy design as a model for some Copic coloring on some cream paper.  After drawing/coloring similar leafy designs, I cut out some red circles to mimic the berries.  I applied them to the card as well.  Then I colored a strip of cardstock with the darker green Copic.  I attached that to my card panel, along with a black strip and copied the stripe design on the cup (and on my Starbucks shop door).  When I looked at my inky panel, I thought the color was a bit too vibrant so I lightened it up by drybrushing some ivory acrylic paint over it.  

You can see how closely I tried to match the colors- although the Copic is a tiny bit more blue, I think it’s a pretty close match to the original cup color.  After drybrushing with the acrylic paint, I stamped the sentiment (from a new coffee/cocoa/latte/tea stamp set purchase:  Uniquely Creative stamp set called Warm Wishes)
