Coffee Loving Papercrafters

Welcome to a new Caffeine Fueled Paper Play!  Today I’m playing along with a challenge over at The Cat’s Pajamas TCP Tuesday Challenge #351 and the theme is Holiday… any Holiday and I’ve been loving making Halloween cards lately so here’s how I was inspired:

So… lights out, shades drawn, this is me on Halloween Night…lololol!  My kids are grown and I’ve had enough of the Trick or Treat so we shut down early.  Don’t judge me.  I love Halloween!  I just don’t love the Trick or Treat process.  I’ll fall in love again with this tradition with my grand kids when I get some I’m sure, but until then…

I was so lucky to have attended Kathy Racoosin’s Coloring Challenge Road Trip here in Goodyear, AZ at the Our Creative Escape studio owned by Kim Hughes Mraz, also the Artist/Owner of Super Sponsor Paper Smooches fame!  It was THE most awesome day… I spent it with old friends, met some new friends and got some fantastic coloring tips from Kathy that have changed my crafty coloring world.  I exercised a little bit of that on this card.  The big one for me was to Be Brave and use some unexpected colors together, and to step outside the color family box.

This guy was fun to color.  He’s from the What The Froth stamp set and I thought he was perfect to be sitting in a haunted house-type setting.  I’ve used Copic Blending Solution and a rag to texturize my Copic coloring before, but adding the brown with the gray … that’s from Kathy… and I love the way the colors play together!  And that purple chair… I would usually be more worried that these purples were more in the same tone, but I decided to be brave and use them together anyway, and I love the way it turned out!

I used dies from lots of places on this one.  The Stitched Rectangle is from Kat Scrappiness.  The web and spiders are old retired CC Designs.  The Stitched Circles are from MFT, and that beautiful Cameo Frame die is from Newton’s Nook.  Finding those webs for the corners made me happy.

It could be Vodka… or more likely Tequila… or it may just be a cup of coffee… you’ll never know!  The sentiment is from the This Could Be Vodka stamp set.
