Brew & Craft Your Stash – Make A Quilt Inspired Card

Hello Coffee Lovers!!

It’s time for a new Brew & Craft Your Stash!! Challenge #5 in the 75 Creative Card Challenges Magazine by Paper Crafts 2013!! Grab your coffee (or tea) and get ready for some great crafty ideas!!

Challenge #5 –  Make A Quilt Inspired Card!!! The magazine features four cards for this challenge. Three of the cards look very quilt-ish, with either pattern papers or solid colors in very quilt like patterns. One card uses different pattern papers, then embossed them before stitching them together into a panel.

There are a few quilt inspired products out their, but I don’t really have them. I’m not a quilter, so am not really attracted to those kinds of paper crafting supplies. But, my first thought was some great products by Crafter’s Companion that can be very quilt like, or so I like to think!! LOL!!

I started with Vintage Tea Party 6 x 6 paper pad cutting 1″ x 1″ squares from different patterns. Then I arranged them on a white cardbase, when I liked the layout I used Glad Press’N Seal to keep them in the same spot while I put adhesive on the back of the squares. Just a little trick I learned from Jennifer Mcguire!

While, that dried I pulled three die sets from the Vintage Tea Party Collection: Toppling Teacups, Tea & Biscuits, Teatriffic Sentiments. I cut the tea pot from brown cardstock and some CC glitter cardstock. With the teacup I cut some CC mirror card and the sentiment from brown cardstock.

I layered the brown teapot over the glitter cardstock and added a small little bow. To the tea cup I added some hand drawn flowers and swirls with an opaque white pen. I also added faux stitching to each of my pattern paper squares. I thought this helped the background look more quilt like. The background is also not perfect, I liked how it looked, kind of how my quilts would turn out, since I’m so not skilled in sewing!!

I added a strip of glitter cardstock and then added the teapot and cup to the card with foam tape. Last I adhered the sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! If you happen to have quilt inspired paper crafting supplies, I hope this inspires you to use them! If you don’t, guess what you can do it any!!! 🙂

I love your sweet quilted tea card!
It looks like an authentic quilt that the
settlers used to make out of scraps of
material left over from the clothes that
    they made. Very cute card!
