Brew & Craft Your Stash – Stamping on Felt

Hello!!

It’s time for a new Brew & Craft Your Stash!! Challenge #3 in the 75 Creative Card Challenges Magazine by Paper Crafts 2013!! Grab your beverage of choice and get ready for some great crafty ideas!!

Challenge # 3 – Stamp on Felt!! Easy enough, right!! The magazine features four cards. The first two stamp big images that are not very detailed, which makes sense. Lots of little details would get lost on felt!!! The third card uses solid stamps on light colored felt, stamping them in colorful inks like blue and orange. The final cards stamps a background, but instead of ink, it uses paint.

I started my card by die cutting a rounded rectangle from white felt. Then I stamped coffee rings randomly on the felt. I used Fun Stampers Journey Coffee Helps stamp set. Then I got to thinking, it looked a little plain with just the white and coffee rings. I wondered what happened if I tried to watercolor on felt??? So I pulled out my Papertrey Ink re-inkers, picking out rainbow colors of a purple, green, yellow, orange, blue and red. And I just added a little bit of the concentrated ink and water. I used the paintbrush to dab and push the ink out, adding water helped dilute the ink and spread it around. The water and ink kind of soaked into the felt where it was the most saturated.

I let the felt dry for a couple hours when I came back the ink had lighted, so it looks kind of frosty in the way the ink soaked into the felt. I really liked how it turned out, cool light blotchy spots of color, and it’s on felt!! 🙂

While the felt was drying I pulled out Picket Fence Studios BFF Owl stamp set. I used my Spectrum Noir Markers to color her up and then I fussy cut her out. Next, I stamped the sentiment A hug in a Mug on some pink cardstock. I trimmed it down and notched the ends.

From Echo Park’s I’d Rather be Crafting pattern paper pad I used a dark wood grain pattern and added it to a card base. I adhered the felt panel and then the sentiment strip and the cute owl. Last I added a few clear sequins.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope this encourages you to break out that felt that I know you have in your stash!!
