Welcome to another Caffeine Fueled Paper Play! Today I’m playing along with a special challenge over at Super Sponsor Paper Sweeties with a Super-dee Duper prize! Did you know this month Paper Sweeties is celebrating its 6th Birthday! Lots of fun stuff going on over there this month including a birthday challenge! Here’s the inspiration:
And here’s how I was inspired:
As always, the color scheme inspired me… and I’ve been feeling kind of beachy lately too so this happened! August just happens to be my birthday month also… so I thought wouldn’t it be fun to have some iced coffees and cupcakes on the beach? Maybe go off for a sail boat ride? In reality, mine would include two large dogs and everything would be knocked over (except for MY coffee which would be securely in my hand) and that flamingo would be no where in sight. But a girl can dream! (BTW… in said reality-I’ll take sand in my cupcake and fur babies any day)
I’ll insert here that I’m also playing along with the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge with a Twist of Vacation/Travel! The Outlawz is a fun Ning group that has a few weekly/monthly challenges and lots of prizes at the end of each month! You have to sign up to join the Ning group, but that was easy! It’s a great group of artists with a fun bunch of challenges!
I started with a couple cute summery sets from Paper Sweeties! I used the Island Time stamps and dies (palm tree, umbrella and sun) as well as the Surf’s Up stamp set (sail boat). For the to go cups I used the Planner Series Coffee stamp set and for the cupcakes the Planner Series Celebrate stamp set. I stamped, die cut or fussy cut and colored all of my images with copics. I added some Nuvo drop sprinkles to the cupcakes. For the sand I used a die from the Tree of Life Sweet Cuts and for the water a die from the Let’s Go To The Beach Sweet Cuts and cut them from some old CTMH papers.
Once I had everything ready to go I started layering. My two stitched background layers are some awesome Double Stitched Rectangle dies from Kat Scrappiness. Love these for a nice simple stitched layer and they’re in just the right sizes! I attached my water and sand layers and trimmed the edges to the line up with the rectangle. My cloudy layer is cut from some of my favorite cloud paper from the Spring Things paper pad from Doodlebug. And these adorable puffy stickers that came in so handy and were perfect are from Crate Paper.
And last but not least, my sentiment from the Surf’s Up set heat embossed in white on a stitched banner from the Sweet Borders Sweet Cuts. ‘Cause it is! Life… Better in Flip Flops! Unless of course it’s snowing. But that never happens here!
I hope you enjoyed your visit today! And I hope you’ll play along with Paper Sweeties this month! Just use the photo above for inspiration and create something new with a Birthday/Celebration theme and link it up to the Paper Sweeties challenge here! You have until August 31st to play and you could win a $100 gift certificate to the Paper Sweeties Shop! Yup! I didn’t add a zero… that’s $100!! And the winner will be chosen by you!
