Welcome to an other Caffeine Fueled Paper Play! Today I’m playing along with the monthly challenge over at Power Poppy Stamps which is to create something with Black and White and a Pop of Color! Here is the theme and inspiration:
And here’s how I was inspired:
Isn’t this Cup of Columbine digital image from Power Poppy just the most beautiful… although, aren’t they all??? The digital set comes with an image that includes a Robin and an egg also, and then in no line coloring versions. And if you prefer clear stamps, this beautiful image now comes in a clear set too and you can find that one here! I don’t know… I love tangible clear sets, but with all of the cool things you can do with digis, I’m torn.. I might need both!
The idea of this challenge is to let your creation be only black and white with a pop of color. I chose purple for my pop(s) … I used my Copic Markers in V15, V17, and a touch of BV08 along with my Colorless Blender and that’s it!
The gorgeous images over at Power Poppy are so detailed and lovely… I don’t think there was one in the shop that I didn’t consider for my first order! I used liquid glass on my stamens for a little bit more dimension and to make them stand out.
This digital image doesn’t come with any sentiments, so I turned to one of the stamp sets I recently purchased for this one called Short Stacks. Originally I stamped the sentiment in purple embossing powder right over the image, but a lesson I learned is don’t by a cheap pack of tons of different embossing powders… not worth it! But that’s ok, because you know how I feel about a white sentiment on black.. and it turned out to be just the right thing.
It was hard for me to not color the entire image, but I do love the way it looks finished! I added some Sprinkles from Doodlebug in the White and Purple and used my Nuvo Drops to create some “splatters”… I like to use the Nuvo Drops when control is important to me… like when I forget to splatter and my whole card is together..lol! And that’s me for today!
I hope you’ll give this one a try! You don’t have to use Power Poppy stamps if you don’t have them! There is a $50 randomly drawn prize at stake which could get you quite a few digis not to mention clear sets from the Power Poppy shop! (Have you seen the new release… Wowza!) The challenge runs through May 31st (hmmm… what else is going on soon that you could create something that fits both .. hmmm…..). Be sure to check out the rules here before you start!
Oh that’s right!! Now I remember what else is going on the last week of this month… there’s this l’il old Blog Hop you may have heard of before:
Be there or be square! See you again soon!
