Hello!
It’s Dana with a new Brew & Craft Your Stash! We all have Rhinestones & pearls in our crafty stash, so grab your cup and keep ready for some great crafty ideas!! If this is the first time you are seeing my feature or need a refresher, click here for my very first post, it gives a little background explanation of my feature!
The next Creating with Product in the Paper Crafting Tips & Tricks magazine is Rhinestones and Pearls! I know we all have them! Some more then others, I’ll be the first to admit that I have more then I will ever use!!! Kim Hughes has some great ideas for using these sparkly elements to our cards:
- Add Rhinestones and/or pearls to the center of flowers
- Create a frame with rhinestones around your main image or sentiment
- Use your sentiments and the rhinestones/pearls as bullet points
- Create a unique shape, such as a heart or star with rhinestones or pearls
- Add rhinestones or pearls to stamped images
- Create curly q’s and flourishes with rhinestones or pearls, feel free to mix up the color and shapes.
For my card, I decided to see if I could create a word with Rhinestones. To start with I cut out the word Coffee (of course, lol) with Winnie & Walter’s Typecast: Cary Letter dies. Then I arranged the letters on a horizontal A2 card base to make sure I could get Coffee to fit, which it did if I did it an arch. With a pencil, I lightly traced over each of the letters.
Then I found in my stash some rose gold rhinestones that came in several different sizes. I picked them up at least a couple years ago on clearance at one of the craft stores. Then I set about to arranging the different sized rhinestones inside my penciled letters. When I was happy with the letters I used liquid glue to adhere them. I don’t trust the adhesive they come with, I want to make sure they are not going anywhere!!
Next, I pulled the stamps Bacon My Heart and Milk and Cookies by Darcie’s Heart & Home. I stamped most of the images from each set and used my Spectrum Noir Markers to color them. Then I fussy cut them all out.
Above my rhinestone Coffee, I added the images, some directly to the card and others with foam tape. Last I rounded the corners.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope this gives you some ideas for using Rhinestones or Pearls on your creations! We all have plenty of them, so use them!! 🙂
