Welcome to a new Caffeine Fueled Paper Play! Today I’m playing along with the Never Ending Anything Goes challenge over at Stamplorations. But the first thing that caught my eye was the Things With Wings Linky Party! Just display the graphic below on your blog’s sidebar and link up with your name and blog address and you’re entered to win! Then create your own Things With Wings project and link up to one of the many challenges Stamplorations that will be going on this month (Challenges usually start on the 5th of the month)!
You should see all of the awesome new stuff over at Stamplorations… and tons of new coffee themed stamps and dies. If you haven’t been over there in a while, you need to check it out! And if you’ve never been there before, then let’s just say… you are in for a treat! Here’s how I was inspired:
I don’t know about you, but there are many mornings when coffee gives me my wings! Or at the very least a little boost up off the couch to start my day..lol! I started this project by ink blending Distress Inks on some plain old white cardstock. I used Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade and Broken China. I have a mix of Distress and Distress Oxides.. when it came to the yellow/blue blend, the Broken China is Oxide and the Squeezed Lemon is not. So I added the yellow and then heat set it for good measure and then added the blue. I was still careful not to blend too far if at all into the yellow because I didn’t want to chance it turning green and since both are not Oxides I wasn’t sure if heat setting the yellow would help. Pretty happy with the way it turned out! Then I splattered some water droplets and soaked the extra up with a paper towel and splattered some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine on with a paint brush. Finally, I added some clear texture paste using the Weaving Stencil to add a little texture. As usual, I made it going the opposite way I originally intended, lol! So most of it is covered up… but I still love it!
While I set my background aside to dry, I used my Misti to stamp the cup on watercolor paper with Versamark. I used the Misti because with the heavy texture of the watercolor paper, I wanted to know I could stamp it a couple times to get full coverage. Then I heat embossed with some gold embossing powder. I love the Caffeinated Zen Coffee Cup stamps from Stamplorations… each as beautiful as the next! It’s hard to pick just one… so I’m sure I’ll have the other two before long… After I watercolored the cup, I added the wings from the Flutter Zen 2 Layering Dies… I just diecut the butterfly from gold glitter paper and cut it in half. I used liquid glass to attach the wings to the back and when it was dry, I added my foam tape and went over the edges of the wings again… the diecut is so intricate and I wanted to be sure I didn’t have any issues with it coming loose. The smaller butterflies are from Memory Box and they went along perfectly with my larger one!
Finally, I stamped and embossed this beautiful sentiment from one of my favorite sentiment sets, Strong Women from our own Becca Cruger’s Big Grins line over at Stamplorations! So cool, right?? We have a celebrity in our midst! I added my favorite gold bling (that is no longer available from CTMH-I stocked up…lol). It’s been a while since I got my gold on, so this felt really good!
