In the Paper Crafting Tips & Tricks Magazine, the Creating with Product section we are looking at Paint ideas!! Jaclyn Miller has some great ideas using paint on cards!!

  • Splatter paint to make unique textured paper
  • Use masking tape to create stripes for unique pattern paper
  • Use a dry brush to and paint to create an aged/distress background
  • Add water to the paint to make a watercolor-like a background
  • drip paint down the edge of the cardstock for a unique look
  • Have transparencies, paint the back to accent your stamped transparencies

For my card, I decided to stamp with paint. I used Sheena Douglass Matte Acrylic paint, it was available on HSN, and will probably be available soon at Crafter’s Companion. But, really any acrylic paint will do, plenty of different brands available at the craft store, IF you don’t already have some!! LOL! The colors I used are Iris Violet, Pink, Water Green, Mango, Light Taupe, Dark Taupe.

I used masking tape around the edge so the card base would have a white border. The background was stamped using Neat & Tangle’s Scandinavian Print, first stamping one layer with paint, letting that dry and then doing the next layer. I found the solid stamps worked the best, the more detailed the stamp the harder to see the detail. I did kind of stamp off some the paint especially on the detail stamps, so it wouldn’t stamp just a glob!

While the paint layers where drying I stamped the coffee mug from Simon Says Stamp What’s Brewing stamp set on brown cardstock. I fussy cut out the cup and then used stamped the sentiment from Reverse Confetti For the Love of Latte stamp set. The sentiment was a little hard to read so I added some shading with a white gel pen. Last I adhered the coffee cup to the card with foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope this gives you some good ideas to use up your stash of paint!!
