Hello Coffee & Tea Lovers!!
Dana here with a new installment of Brew & Craft Your Stash!! Grap your cup, sit back and get ready for some great ideas using Border Stamps!! If this is the first time you are seeing my feature or need a refresher, click here for my very first post, it gives a little background explanation of my feature!!
We are looking at the Stamping Techniques section in Paper Crafting Tips & Tricks 2012 magazine looking at Border Stamp ideas!! Laura Williams brings some great ideas for using those Border Stamps!! They include:
- Repeat stamp the border to make patterned paper
- Dress up a sentiment by stamping the border over the sentiment
- Make unique borders by layering different border stamps
- Stamp a pattern with your border stamp and add embellishments to dress up the stamping
- Stamp embellishments, no need know it was a border stamp
- Stamp a cool background with different patterns in different colors
I had to dig through the stamps I brought with me to campus, I wasn’t sure I had any border stamps here, but l was in luck I brought a few Winnie & Walter stamps and one was the Scenery: The Party Hangover set. If you need some border stamps, search Scenery, they have several border sets!!
I decided to stamp and emboss a border pattern on pattern paper! I started with Photoplay Paper Like A Girl collection and found a very pretty pattern. I tested a couple embossing powders to find the one that went the best with the paper, going with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Cafe Au Lait embossing powder. I used all the border stamps except the big bubbly one.
Next, I pulled out Reverse Confetti’s Caffeinated Cups stamp set and stamped the big cup on some plaid pattern paper from the Like A Girl collection. I also stamped the top of the cup on brown cardstock. I fussy cut the cup from the plaid and the brown for inside the coffee. Then I decided to stamp and fussy cut the coffee wrap from the same pattern I used for the background.
Then, I used super cute glasses embellishment! I’ve had these for awhile and I’m so happy to finally use one!! I added the embellishment to the coffee cup! So, cute!!!
The Like A Girl collection had a paper pattern that was full of speech bubbles with different sentiments and quotes in them. I picked out one I thought would go with the coffee cup, You Are Awesome! I fussy cut out the bubble and a little tip for you, I use some sandpaper to smooth the edges. This makes it look a little less like I cut it out!!
Last I added a stripe sticker strip from the collection and then added the cup and sentiment to the card with foam tape. I love the iridescent look you get with the stamped borders, adds a little subtle sparkle!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope this inspires you to break out those border stamps and try to use them in a new way!!
