Happy Monday, my caffeinated friends. Have you all seen the challenge going on over at Kraft Plus? If not, prepare to have your coffee loving hearts amazed!
Isn’t it gorgeous? As soon as I saw it, I had an idea in my mind of what I wanted to do.
I dug out my long-forgotten stash of kraft (truly, I don’t know why I don’t use it more often) and grabbed my Distress Oxides for a little play session.
I used a coffee mug from a STAMPlorations set, and then smudged some extra distress Oxides onto the mat, picking it up with a wet paintbrush and watercoloring.
The beauty of Distress Oxides is that they perfectly cover darker colors, you you can use them directly on either kraft or black paper and they’ll look lovely.
Once I had my blue mug colored up, I added some overflowing coffee, to mimic the design in the Kraft Plus inspiration image. I used both Distress Oxides and regular Distress Inks, just to give the “coffee” a little darker and less chalky of a finish.
Next, I added some detailing around the outside of my focal panel with a white gel pen, and decided my coffee cup needed some highlighting, as well.
I stamped a coordinating sentiment that I thought was perfect for the image. It’s from the STAMPlorations Literary Caffeine-ations stamp set.
I added a little strip of Bo Bunny striped paper to finish off my design and viola! I hope you enjoyed today’s card. 🙂
