Hello!!
Dana here with a new installment of Brew & Craft Your Stash!! Grab your coffee or tea and read on for some great ideas for using buttons! If this is the first time you are seeing my feature or need a refresher, click here for my first post, it gives a little background explanation on my feature!!!
We are in the Creating with Product section and creating with Buttons!! I know everyone has some buttons, somewhere!! Brenda Weaver has some great ideas to use those buttons!
- Use spray ink and use buttons as a mask
- Accent a stamped image (example: button wheels on a bike)
- Create a border of buttons
- Make custom buttons with stamps, markers, and inks
- Layer buttons and embellishments for a chunky look
- Roll buttons in watermark ink and heat emboss with embossing powders
The buttons I brought with me are fall colors so I used some scraps from a fall themed pattern paper and placed strips of different patterns on a panel of white cardstock. Then I played around with the buttons and when I was happy with the arrangement I used a liquid adhesive to keep them in place. When the glue was dry I used a paper piercer and punched holes through the holes in the buttons and then threaded twine through each button. That way I know the buttons are not going anywhere, plus adds a little interest!
Then I used My Favorite Things Coffee Cup die from some pattern paper from the same pad as the strips. With Walnut Stain Distress Ink I inked the edges of the coffee cup and the striped panel.
Next, I used Essentials by Ellen Oh Frappe stamp set and stamped the You Got This -Coffee sentiment on the coffee cup. I also stamped the steam, fussy cut them out and used the Distress Ink to make them and the edges darker. Last I adhered the steam and cup to the front of the card!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this gives you a few ideas for using those buttons, I know you have some in that stash!! So grab your beverage of choice and get to creating!!
