Hello there coffee-loving crafty friends! It’s Kerry here and I’m back with another Sunday Sip and Share. You’re not viewing a spring/Easter post! HA HA! You know when you’re getting crafty and you’re in the zone and your muse just takes a bit of a detour? Well, mine did last night! Yes, she decided that she wanted to think Easter or Easter baskets or Spring or something far off the beaten path! I said alright, I’ll play along. In the end, this is what she gave me! Quite loverly, right?
During the Summer Hop, I was lucky enough to win this adorably whimsical stamp set called Tea in the Garden by Laura Bray Designs. She is was a new Super Sponsor and if you haven’t checked out her website yet, you should! Don’t get that gorgeous travel mug on her page…It’s mine and I’ve got first dibs!
I pulled out my Distress Oxides and started coloring some white paper so that I could stamp the images onto it. I stamped the images onto that paper and cut them out so I could assemble them onto a card. As I assembled the card, I created a pink doodly oval as a backdrop for the image arrangement. I even used my sewing machine to make a fun stitched-drunken circle . I didn’t like how the pink oval took over the whole card so I cut it in half and that’s when Easter appeared! I started filling the “Easter basket” with all kinds of coffee/tea goodies! Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. Why in the world am I making an Easter Basket in July? Craaaa—zzzeeee!
I added a bit of machine stitching and a watercolor background to help accentuate the whimsy of this card. It was fun just going along on this artsy detour with my muse, that’s for sure! Gave me a few giggles too!
To add to the whimsy, I cut the bottom of the card so that it could be a playful rocker card. It’s pretty fun to tip from side to side. I also added the copyright logo for LBD. I love that this was included in the stamp set. I wish more companies would do that!
I hope you had fun taking this wrong turn with me today. Now I wonder if I can keep this card until Easter or should I just go ahead and mail it out to someone saying (oops…I forgot your Easter Card so I decided to make you one!). LOL
Now let’s hop to the Easter sketch. If you are giggling right now, how about trying to make a card inspired by this sketch. Sure, you can make an Easter card too or perhaps you might make a planter card or a big cuppa hot chocolate with marshmallows floating on top! Whatever you choose to do, have fun and please share. Since this is the last week of the month, I’ll be selecting a winner from the entries submitted this month. The winner will receive a fun Coffee related prize (not jellybeans or Cadbury Eggs).
