Yes, I know, I’m posting a Fall project right in the middle of your summer vacation. Before you all start throwing beach buckets and sand at me, let me explain. Actually, there’s not much to explain other than I LOVE FALL AND IT’S MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR! I feel so much better, having gotten that out of my system. It’s true though. I love Fall and it can’t here soon enough, for me. Stick around for a few minutes because not only am I sharing my love for all things Autumn, but Hugh Jackman is in the house. Yes, thee Hugh Jackman is the inspiration for today’s Coffee Buzz news. More on that, later in this post.
Before I talk about our resident Wolverine, first, let me share a few details on this card. I’m using the brand new Hello Fall paper collection and stickers from Carta Bella Paper as well as the Pumpkin Spice Coffee Cup from Unity Stamps, one of our fabulous super sponsors.
To create my stamped cup, I used Tonic Studio Nuvo Hot Chocolate embossing powder, then watercolored with Marvy Le Plume II markers. I used a white gel pen to embellish the stamped twine and branches. My adhesives are from another super sponsor, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. I’m also using Nuvo Morning Dew crystal drops for shine on my lid and leaves and sequins and buttons from 28 Lilac Lane. I’ll have a link to my blog at the end of this post if you’d like all the product links. I’ve also used the Stamplorations stitched snow dies for my mound of leaves and May Arts Ribbon. Stamplorations, as many of you know, has been a lovely supporter of our blog hops as well and I am more than happy when I’m able to give them a shout out, by using their products that I truly love and adore.
Now for the important Coffee Buzz news. I dropped Hugh Jackman’s name like we’re besties but really, it’s just his coffee that’s my bestie. One evening recently, The Hubs and I were wandering the grocery aisle and snagged a bunch of new-to-us sample packs of Keurig K-cups to try. I spotted Laughing Man Coffee and grabbed a couple different flavors, not knowing a thing about the coffee.
It wasn’t until a week later when I took a closer look at the box and read the story of Dukale’s Blend, spotting the face of Hugh Jackman. Of course, I had to do a little research and find out more about the story behind the coffee. To summarize, Mr. Jackman and his wife traveled to Ethiopia and met a coffee farmer named Dukale who is also the namesake of the documentary that Mr. Jackman released on film, Dukale’s Dream. It became a passion for Hugh, helping these farmers rise out of poverty. If you’ve heard the expression Fair Trade Coffee and don’t quite understand what it means, it means that a particular coffee farmers product was certified and is being paid a fair price for his coffee beans, helping farmers rise from so many years of poverty; working under poor conditions, having forced child labor, etc.
Hugh started the Laughing Man Foundation and 100% of his profits go to this non-profit organization, which he created to support educational programs, community development and social entrepreneurs around the world. Now, that is a man with a heart. You can even dine in a Laughing Man Coffee Cafe, however, you’ll have to travel to New York City to visit their 2 locations. That’s going on my bucket list!
