The next section in Paper Crafting Tips & Tricks magazine is Stamping Techniques, the next technique is Inking! There some fabulous ideas from Jennifer McGuire for using inks!! And we really need all the ideas we can get, cuz I don’t know about you but I have plenty of inks in my stash!!! 🙂

  • Ink over a mask or stencil
  • Use the ink to watercolor
  • Press and drag ink pad to create a cool background
  • Press fingerprint or objects into the ink and create custom images
  • Ink with edge of pads to create a pattern
  • Ink edges of the paper, embellishments, chipboard, etc.

This one was a little hard, it seems like it’s all been done!! I went on Pinterest to see if anything would give some ideas and while looking I thought of something to try. I’m sure it’s been done before and it’s not really earth-shattering anyway!! Of course, I had to experiment to see if it would even work! Basically what I did for my background was use an ink applicator and applied purple ink then pressed a pink ink to a palette. With lots of water and a wide flat brush, I painted a layer of the pink over the purple.

w smile 11When it dried I got a nice mix of purple and pink! To do this I used painters tape to hold down my watercolor cardstock and to mix up things I added them at an angle so, in the end, I got a funky rectangle!

While my panel was drying I pulled out Waffle Flowers Stitched Cup of Tea stamps set and with the help of my Misti I stamped the teapot, tea bag, and cookie. I kind of used the same technique when stamping by using both colors. For one area I stamped the purple 3 or 4 times, then stamped the pink a couple times on top, then for other I stamped less purple and more pink!

I fussy cut out the tea bag and cookie. For the teapot, I stamped smile below it and then cut it out in a funky square.

When the watercolor panel was dry I adhered it to a gray card base. With foam tape, I added the funky square and then the tea bag and cookie. As a last touch, I added a few gray enamel dots!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope this encourages you to think about your ink in a new way!!
