Coffee Buzz With Terri – Celebrating Dad

coffee-buzz-slider

Good Monday Morning!  It’s time for another edition of Coffee Buzz and I have some very interesting Buzz news to share later in this post that is an incredible discovery about yet another health benefit by actually increasing your consumption of coffee.  But first, details on my newest creation that celebrates Dad, just in time for Father’s Day.

My card today is created using the new “Hey Mister” (*afflink) collection from My Mind’s Eye.  I was happy to discover that this collection had a few coffee elements, including the chipboard coffee cup that you see.  I’m using die cuts, enamel dots, chipboard, stickers and cardstock.

I’ve also added one of the MME brads along with some string embellishment.  It’s popped up with double stacked foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  My string bundle was a bit bulky, so the double mounted foam helped elevate my cup a bit better.

I love that “Dad” die cut.  It has a nostalgic cartoonish feel, don’t you think?  Like a 1950’s television show.  It reminds me of the lettering in the old Leave It To Beaver show.

I plan to gift my dad with some coffee for Father’s Day.  We spend a good bit of time bonding over a cup and always have…..since I was a teenager.

Now, if you haven’t heard the newest health information about the benefits of coffee and cutting your risk of liver cancer, read on.  This is of extreme interest to me personally.  Liver problems run in my family.  My mom and Uncle both have a genetic disorder called Hemachromatosis.  It can cause serious liver issues.  In fact, my Uncle had to have a liver transplant and my Mom was diagnosed with hepatacellular carcinoma and severe cirrhosis 2 years ago.  I myself have been genetically tested to be a carrier, however I do not actively have the disorder.  This study states that 5 cups of coffee a day can cut your risk by 50%.  Two cups can cut your risk by 35%.  I drink 2-3 cups a day, so I welcome that news!  Here’s the full article of you’d like more details:  http://dailycoffeenews.com/2017/05/30/coffee-can-halve-liver-cancer-risk-new-research-shows/

Thanks Lucy. I’m actually sensitive to caffeine so I try not to drink it after lunch. Three cups is the most I can handle or I will be awake all night!
