Hello there Coffee Loving papercrafters! It’s Kerry here and I’m back with another installment of my Sunday Sip and Share feature. I’ve returned from vacation and from a fun and restful adventure to Georgia and am back to the old grind…well, kind-of!
For today’s card I thought I’d share a little sunshine. It has been rainy since Friday afternoon and I’ve been cooped up inside. My grass has been begging for a haircut but oh well, I guess it’ll have to wait some more! This little card was inspired by the sunshine and that oh-so-dangerous magical concoction from Starbucks. Yeah, you know the sparkly unicorn drink?! Well, I am happy to say I didn’t cave and test one out! WOOP!!! I did however, make me a tiny pot of strong tea with fresh lemon zest and a little mint. MMMMM! Now that’s what I’m talking about!
That’s really how this card came about…I wanted to feature the zingy lemons in my tea and then I realized I had the perfect set…with the perfect sentiment! It’s amazing how that works out dont’cha think? The sentiment just made me think about all the fun conversations I overheard about that crazy little unicorn drink! LOL. Life DOES tell the best stories!
To create this card, I used the stamp sets Life Stories (ON SALE in the USa now for $11.67), Chevron Trail Background and the oh-so-fabulous coffee-loving set Hey Sugar! I stamped the chevron onto Lemon Drop cardstock with some Whip Cream True Fusion Ink then embossed it with Journey White embossing powder. I stamped all the lemons, the cups and the sentiment with Black Licorice True Fusion ink then colored the images with my Journey Color Splash watercolor pencils and popped them up on the page with some Foam Squares.
To add some shimmer and shine, I applied Journey Glaze and sprinkled lightly with Sparkle Dust. The sentiment was watercolored too. Tying a bit of Bubblegum Journey Thread helped wrap this square card up in a nice little package!
I just love that itty bitty cup! To finish off the panel, I distressed the edges with the Whip Cream ink then attached it to Whip Cream cardstock and then onto a Watermelon Fusion Square card base. So yummy!
Check out the coordinating sketch I created from this card. I tried to minimize the circle (pink lemon) elements on the sketch as they were becoming a bit to wack-a-doodle for my liking. I hope you consider playing along with us this week! I’ve got a sweet TEA lovers gadget for one lucky participant! Just make sure to include your card in our inlinkz below.
Thanks to those who played along in my challenge last week. I randomly selected a winner from the sketch-following entries and she is: Erin of Homemade Cards by Erin. She’ll receive the extra stamp set that I picked up on my vacation in Georgia! Congrats and I’ll be in touch!
