Coffee Buzz with Terri – My Cup of Tea

coffee-buzz-slider

Happy Monday to my fellow coffee, tea and cocoa lovers!  Today, I bring you a mixture of things.  First, I’ve combined the new Doodlebug Design Cream and Sugar papers with The Crafter’s Workshop stencil, “Cup of Joy“, for this fun, happy card that celebrates a delicious brew of tea.  I’m also introducing you to the Southern Girl Coffee Co; a local roastery in our area that is owned and operated by a driven and visionary young woman, Leah Sparks.  Plus, I’ve got a quick video showcasing my coloring/watercolor/stencil technique so pull up a chair, grab a cup, and let’s kick start our Monday.  Because, let’s face it…. it IS Monday!

Fiirst, a few quick details on this card.  I just so happened to have, in addition to the Cream and Sugar papers, the Doodlebug Design Swiss Dot paper collection which paired perfectly.  I incorporated the swiss dots for my backdrop and party banner, using my Lil’ Inker Designs stitched mini flag banner die on those, as well.  Embellishments include some pretty buttons, twine and adhesive mini pink rosettes from May Arts Ribbon, along with gemstones from Hobby Lobby/The Paper Studio.   Oh, and those fussy cut macarons….aren’t they just delicious?

I’ve got a short 2 minute video if you’d like to see how I colored the teacup with my Tombow dual brush markers with my TCW Cup of Joy Stencil, on Strathmore 300 series watercolor paper.  The key is, once you color, remove the stencil before blending with your water brush.  If you leave the stencil then add water, it will leak and cause bleeding around your image.  If you “like” and give a thumbs up on my YouTube video, that would be awesome too!

Next stop on today’s tour, the Southern Girl Coffee Co.  I love Leah’s story and I’m thrilled that we have such amazing coffee, right here in our little corner of the world.  Although there’s an office in town with a roasting facility, Leah sets up shop in this cool pop up traveling trailer for regular daily hours and is able to pull up stakes, traveling with her wares to various community events, fairs, or wherever her business needs take her.

There’s no need for printable menus when you have cool portable signage that travels as well, advertising the menu of the day. (I’m a little partial to the cappuccino!)  Leah most frequently uses the Pour over technique which you can read about, here.

With the upcoming Spring Blog Hop just around the corner, I thought I might offer up a little something for a prize, from Southern Girl Coffee Co.  Keep your eyes posted for my blog hop entry in March, with prize details.  Leah also sells Rishi Tea and her own branded mug; perfect if you’re a collector.  Her cup carries the image of a  tree that harkens back to the memories of time spent with her “Paw Paw”, sharing a cup of coffee under it’s branches.  Take a look at her product selection, here.
