It’s the day before the sweetest day of the year, and I’ve got a Valentine Card that features a mix of Unity Stamps, smooshing and some fun elements. This card will work for a guy or a girl and most definitely, for the Valentine who loves their Java!
Originally, I was going to do a CAS card, but good grief, it’s like wrapping a vise around me, sticking to clean and simple. I just have to keep adding bits and pieces! I started by using a cut piece of Strathmore mixed media paper, first smooshing in Colorbox Pinkolicious ink that had been spritzed with water on a craft mat. Once that dried, I added black. Pink and black are two of my absolute favorite color combos. You just cannot go wrong.
I used my Misti to partially stamp this heart from the Unity Stamp Company “Everything Love” sentiment kit. Next, I masked the flourishes on the sentiment “Hot Stuff”, also from the kit, lined it up on my Misti and stamped inside the heart. Then, I took the coffee cup stamp from “Java Friend” and ran a grey Tombow marker across just one side and the top portion of the cup, so it would fit inside my heart, yet not interfere with the wording. I colored the coffee by running my light brown Tombow across an acrylic block, grabbing the color with my waterbrush. A white gel pen makes for some yummy cream on top!
The pink heart paper is from DCWV Prism Play cardstock and I’ve used a few Sizzix dies to create the triangular element and the arrow, from the new Sizzix mini album die set (afflink). Notice the silver thread? That came from a ripped section of ribbon.
I bought this for pennies after the holidays. It was wired ribbon and rather than buy pricey silver and gold spools of thread, you can get creative and utilize ribbon in other ways. If it’s on clearance, well that’s just the icing on the cake! Just trim a 1″ to 2″ slit down the inside edge of one side of the wired ribbon, grab and rip all the way down. You are left with lots and lots of lovely silver threads which you can then pluck and bag.
When I shot these photos, a lovely package arrived from a dear friend; Pam Stang. She sent me a box of goodies, including some of the new Doodlebug Design Cream and Sugar papers and the accompanying wire embellished paper clips. Not to mention, the most amazing peanut butter fudge that I think I’ve ever put in my mouth. Pam and I actually met several years ago through the Unity Stamp Company Facebook Show and Tell group. It was so ironic that she sent me this package, at the same time that I was putting together this project that features Unity Stamps. I absolutely had to give her a shout out. Isn’t it wonderful how crafting brings people together? I have made so many friends via my love of crafting and card making and I know many of you feel the same way; forging strong bonds based on the mutual love that we all share.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I appreciate your lovely comments and your friendship! Terri
