Coffee Loving Papercrafters

It’s Andreea and I am happy you are stopping by today, as I do have a special project to share with you.

In my country we don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. But this year I thought it is the best excuse to send a gift card to a dear friend, with whom I would love to have a coffee on the occasion, but we live too many miles apart.  I thought the Starbucks heart shaped Valentine’s edition gift card looks really sweet and I figured it would fit perfectly inside a card I had in mind. The perfect project to use the heart shape flop card die by My Favourite Things.

I started with an A6 white card base. The heart shape flop card die helps cutting the heart shape and also scores along allowing for an easy fold of the flopping side. The flop die also comes with a matching stitched heart shape die, which allowed me to die cut some pattern paper for my project. You might have noticed from my previous projects that I love polka dots and also gingham. With the use of the flop die I die cut the pink gingham paper to cover the from part. I also used the stitched scalloped border die for a strip of white paper for a nice finish of the edge of this panel, and I have embellished it by adding a bit of twine.
I used some polka dotted paper to cut few heart shapes: one for the main panel and one for the inside panel. The heart on the inside panel becomes visible when you open the card and I knew that was where I was going to include a message.

I  added a stitched rectangle scallop edge frame on the inside panel, as you can notice this is visible even when the card is closed and adds some interest to the entire design.

The stamp set I used for today’s project is the new “Coffee and Tea” by Simon Says Stamp. I stamped one of the coffee cups and fussy cut it. I have also done a bit of paper piecing, matching the cup sleeve with the pattern paper from the top of the card. I mounted the coffee cup on the inside part of the card, but it is also visible when the card is folded.
For the the sentiments I selected 2 stamps from the same set: one for the banner on the top of the card, reading “you & coffee” and one for the message stamped on the inside card, reading “coffee & friends make the perfect blend”.

The real surprise comes when the card is fully opened and you see the gift card “hidden” on the back of the heart, attached on a stitched heart, die cut out of matching polka dot paper.
