Masculine Valentine + SVG File

coffeebuzzwithterri-1

Hello lovelies.  I’m back today with a fun project that features the Stamplorations set, Cuppa Love, designed by our newest teamie, Becca Dawn Cruger.  She’s amazing and I love this versatile stamp set. I love a frilly Valentine as much as the next girl, but today, this one is for the guys and I’m breaking out some of my precious, hoarded Basic Grey Barista papers as well.

Now, I love using dies as much as the next girl.  If I find a stamp set that I love, I’m likely to grab the matching dies as well.  On occasion, I make my own svg cutting file with my Cricut Explore (*afflink).  If you do enough research, you can learn just about anything, including some crazy stuff that I’m about to share, haha!  I had heard, by word of mouth, (because you know, crafty folks do talk….) that you could take a photo of a stamped image, load it up to your design space of choice, and turn it into an svg cutting file.  If this doesn’t interest you, then you may want to jump to the end of this post, but I’ll be brief.

I often use a free online file converter that allows you to convert a jpg photo into an svg cutting file.  I’ll try to explain as best as I can.  I thought I would simplify the process by tracing the outline of the bean heart from this stamp set onto black card stock and fussy cutting.  Here’s the next few steps:

  1.  Snap a photo of your image in the brightest light possible with a white background (white cardstock).
  2. Download image to your computer and save as a jpg or png file.
  3. Upload your image to a free file converting site.  I use http://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-svg
  4. Upload your image and select the “monochrome” feature, then choose” convert file”.  You now have an svg file that you can load up to whatever design space you use for your die cutting machine (Cricut, Silhouette, etc.)

**Please note – this image will be huge when loaded into your design space.  You will need to scale it down to approximately 1.72″ x 1.65″.  Below is a picture of the photo of the heart and a screenshot of the work I created in my Cricut Design space, creating a card panel with the heart cut out of the panel.  Scroll down for the Good News!

Here’s the good news… I’ve already created an svg file that you can load up to your design space program.  Woo hoo!  If you have the Cuppa Love stamp set and would like to be able to tinker with the svg image, grab it below.  Just be sure and write down the dimensions as mentioned above or type the dimensions in your file description when you save it.

Thanks so much for letting me share a little of my techy, crafty side with you today.  I enjoy learning ways to utilize my Cricut in unique and creative ways.  I’m leaving you with a scoop of ice cream.  Cocoa bunny.  Yes!  I spotted it in Walmart the other night and it landed it my shopping cart.  If you have Blue Bunny ice cream in your area, check it out.  Milk chocolate, marshmallow swirls and chocolate covered mini marshmallow bunnies.  It’s divine.

If you use the svg file and create something fun with it, I’d love it if you tagged me or shared on my FB or IG page… Waving My Wand on FB or Waving My Wand on IG .  Of course, we’d love for you to join our coffee loving cardmakers group on Facebook as well and share there.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!
