I’m back with a wintery stamp set that transitions right on into Valentine’s Day. When I saw the Mug Hugs stamps from Sunny Studios during the Winter Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop, I had to have it. I filed it away into that little coffee crafting corner (gee, say that 3 times…. coffee crafting corner, coffee crafting corner….) of my brain that said, “buy me as soon as possible!” Some of us are on a budget so we have to plot, plan and prioritize, right? Right.
I did a little snooping around to find where my best price could be found and ended up purchasing my stamps from Scrapbook.com. (afflink) I shop there a lot and there was a sale, plus a coupon…… you follow me? Plus, as an added bonus, my birthday was right around the corner and I mean, I needed to treat myself, right?
First, I used my Misti to do some mirror image stamping, having the cups side by side but facing each other. The first cup was stamped in reverse on the cardstock, the second cup was stamped separately, fussy cut and popped up on foam mounting tape.
It was so fun, watercoloring my little mugs. I used my Tombow markers and a waterbrush to move the color around, blotting with a paper towel. I even tinted the tops of my marshmallows with the same color, diluting it more. I used some heart washi tape with gold hearts, here and there, but used the tiny heart included with the stamp set on my mug, coloring it in with my white gel pen. I also used my Kaisercraft glitter pen in black to outline my mug and marshmallows for a little extra sparkly pop. You can see it best, in the first photo.
Those banner fish tail dies are also from Sunny Studios and I snagged those on my little online birthday shopping excursion, as well. The finishing touches are May Arts Ribbon string, rosettes and gold mesh ribbon, Double Click Skittles bubble embellishments and DCWV papers. This is a such a fun stamp set and I really wanted to show that it can be used as a transitional set, on into February and Valentine’s Day, hence all the hearts and pink.
Of course, one cannot have a birthday without a little cake. I stopped by my favorite coffee hangout and picked up a Birthday Cake Pop from Starbucks. It was delicious!
