August 26: Guest Designer

I can’t believe this is our final Friday of August!  We have so enjoyed having Dana Warren as our Guestie!  Big Thank you to Dana!

Hello, Coffee Lovers! I’m here with my last card as the August Guest!! I’ve had so much fun sharing my creations with you! Thank you so much, Amy, for having me! It has been a blast!!!

For my card today I started with my background. I actually have a bunch of similar backgrounds all ready to go, they all are left overs from doing the smooshing technique. I do the smooshed panel with a certain color in mind and when I’m done with that panel there is typically still ink left on my palette. Instead of cleaning it up I pulled out one or two more panels and press them into the left over ink. When they are dry I just set them aside for future cards like this one.

I pulled out an retired stamp set from Stampin Up called Morning Cup. I really like the delicate and whimsical look to all the images in this set, so I stamped them all on watercolor paper. I used my Distress Markers and water to color them up and with sharp scissors fussy cut them out. Since Morning Cup is probably only available on eBay I found a few other sets that are similar and would make good substitutes! Janes Doodles Coffee Time, Altenew’s Coffee Love, and Neat and Tangled’s Perfect Blend.

To give the images a shelf or top to sit on I cut a strip of Kraft card stock. I embossed the sentiment Caffeine Isn’t a Drug, It’s a Vitamin (so true, right?!?!)  in white. I adhered the strip directly on the panel, then added all the tea cups, mugs and pots with foam tape. With such a busy background I decided against adding sequins or enamel dots.

Thank you, everyone, for you comments these past months, it has been a joy creating and sharing some coffee-loving cards!!!

What a great mix of products and brands, the background is fun too. The whole scenery reminds me of a garden table near a white wall where the shadows of trees and leaves are projected.
