Good Morning! It is time to take a little coffee break with me, Helen 🙂 This morning, I would like to share 2-ways of using dies with one of my favorite coffee stamp & die from Concord & 9th. Hope you’ll enjoy reading this post while sipping your favorite drink.
To be able to use the positive and negative die cuts, we need to think about how we wanna use them on our cards. Yes, plan is always good 🙂
For example, on these cards today, I planned to use make a shaker card and a CAS card. So I arranged them on the cardstock panel that I cut to size I wanna use as shaker window.
I drew a straight line with pencil to where I wanted the cups to be. Then I die-cut them 3 times. Then I set aside the positive die-cut cups for my next card. For the shaker windows, I used a piece of Bazzil vellum paper. Sequins I used are from Neat and Tangled – Festive Fall Sequin Mix. After I put the shaker card together, I decided to draw the cup sketch lines in the windows (I was planning to stamp them but I forgot! LOL…)
Then I cut paper strips from CTMH – Magical Paper Packet (also the background paper), hand-writting the sentiment using Marvy® Uchida® LePen™ Journaling Pen. Then I put them together with adhesive runner and CTMH – Mini Stapler. I added the paper strips on the card with 3D foam adhesive.
On the second card, I used the positive die-cut cups, stamped the cup stamp and colored it with my Tombow Dual Brush pens.
For the watercolored wash background, I created it with cool color palette with Tombow Dual Brush Pens. To create this background, simply scribble the colors of your choice on a craft mat or acetate plastic, then spray with some water. Then dip the watercolor paper in it.
I used Canson watercolor paper 140 lbs for this background. And using my Craft Heater, I dried in between layer of colors to get the different depth of colors and shade of colors.
Once the background is dry well, then you can stamp on it. Like I did for the steam for the cups.
To get a great stamped imaged on die-cut pieces, I learned a tip from some crafters using MISTI. I saved this last negative die cut from last project and never though I would use it again for today’s project:
- First, place the negative diecut on MISTI.
- Second, place the cup stamp inside it and then pick it up with the MISTI lid.
- Third, place the positive die-cut cup inside the negative.
- Four, add ink and stamp.
Simple as that 🙂
I hope this tips today can inspire you create more pretty coffee projects 😀 If you have any questions, please let me know and I will try my best to reply in the comment 🙂
