July 26: Guest Designer

Terri Burson is back with us this week with some amazing projects!  Big, Big Thank You to Terri for all of her inspiration that she’s brought to the blog…take it away Terri!

It’s my final guestie post and I’m leaving you with a sweet little gift set, featuring the Pink and Main stamp set, “Latte Love“.    I’ve been drooling over this set for some time now so when I recently attended the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo, I made a beeline for the Pink & Main booth and snatched it right up! Happily, owner and friend Michelle Currie and I go back a few years so it’s always nice to catch up, when I’m able to travel to her neck of the woods, the beautiful state of Georgia.  Plus, Pink & Main are generous sponsors of the CLCM Blog Hops, which is all the more reason to share my affection for this stamp set.  Here’s a few of their coffee/tea/cocoa sets, here.

As you can see, I made a clean and simple card and accompanying coffee mug.

For the mug, I grabbed a brown and black Sharpie marker.  Because of the curvature of the mug, I chose to leave the stamp on it’s acrylic sheet, swiping my sentiment several times, making sure it’s good and inky with the black Sharpie, then press onto the mug.  You will definitely need to touch up your sentiment carefully with the marker, as it will not be a crisp, clean stamp due to the nature of this process.  Next, I used the brown Sharpie for the coffee bean stamps and did the same.

The Sharpie markers are permanent but you need to “set” the ink and this can be done easily by:

1.  Place your room temperature mug into a COLD oven and bring it up to 350 degrees, with a total bake time of 30 minutes (includes the time it took to heat the oven).

2.  Remove and allow to cool.

That’s it!  I would recommend hand washing to avoid any scratches to your inked images.  Such a fun and easy technique.  You can grab these mugs at the Dollar Store and make a bunch as gifts!

Isn’t it the cutest?  I totally love it.

For the card, I did some no-line watercoloring with my Tombow dual brush markers, for a simple CAS card.  I’m a firm believer that sometimes, less is more and I just love the simplicity of this card.  It’s perfect for sending to your best friend or your significant other.

You actually decorated your own coffee cup, how fun is that? Love the result, thank you for sharing the “recipe”! The card is very soft and beautiful, looks like hand drawn. It was a pleasure seeing your work throughout the month, Terri!
