The wonderful Erika Post is back with us again!

Hello my caffeinated friends! It’s Erika from Catherine Pooler Designs guesting today with the Fall Calls For Lattes Stamp Set and a super vibe of a color combo for summer.

Starting with complementary colors from the Red-Violet and Yellow-Green families, I grabbed Pucker Up, Melon Ice and Martini Ink Colors from Catherine Pooler. I then added Minted and Serenade to the mix as accents for a poppin’ rainbow. These colors made me think of some of my fun reusable straws I use for my iced coffee bevies. Gotta keep those handy- save the turtles!

Now comes the fun part! I knew my Baby It’s Cold Outside Stamp Set (a personal fav from Christmas a few years back) had a striped straw and I needed that to make this card. I got about the business of stamping and die cutting straws in all of the colors. Can you even with these bright colors?

I stamped some straws directly on the card base in a fun spilled pattern and then popped some of my die cut ones along too for a little added zing. Now don’t cry over spilled straws…the “this calls for coffee” sentiment from the Fall Calls For Lattes Stamp Set totally works here. When you have a day where things just aren’t going as planned, friend, I’m ready to sip coffee and lend a listening ear!

I colored in the stamped latte with Macchiato Ink and Minted. I then topped it off with die cut whipped cream and tucked in an extra straw. My last step was running my Pucker Up Ink along the edges of my card base- direct to paper- to make a custom colored cardstock frame for my card. I love how a little pop of color just makes the colors of the straws dance. It creates a nice visual balance.
