We’re so excited to welcome back Erika Post as our Guest Designer for August!
Hello java loving friends, Erika here, Creative Manager from Catherine Pooler Designs and I am thrilled to be back guesting here in the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog. I’ve got some new stamps and celebrating all things coffee and cards. Grab your favorite brew and get ready to smoosh and splatter!
Our new Fall Calls for Lattes Stamp Set is a big 6×8 set with a super fun mix of coffee mug and travel cup options. I love the latte art stamps and additional leaves and fall icons. It also has some adorable sentiments for all us caffeine loving folks!
For today’s card I wanted to create a background with loads of texture. I went for a classic “smooshing” technique by applying ink to a large acrylic block, spritzing with water and then dipping my cardstock into the color. I used a little bit of Hot Tub, some Uptown and then came in with Lemongrass- one of my favorite colors.

Next was the splatter! I grabbed my handy dandy Gansai Tambi Starry Colors metallic watercolors and started by dipping my paint brush in the Yellow Gold and flicking it around. That gold pulls the yellow from the Lemongrass. I also added some Champagne Gold.
I wanted a little more deep contrast and thought some dark, black coffee brown was the ticket so I grabbed the Ink Refill to my new S’mores Ink. I used this ink to stamp the latte art and on my sentiment too. S’mores is a cool, blue-brown so it’s dark and rich-which I love!

With so much fun and interest on my background, adding my sentiment and a couple little die cut and colored images from the Fall Calls for Lattes Stamp Set made this an easy layout. I colored my coffee sleeve and leaves with a blender pen and my coordinating inks.
This coffee card is all about ink play! If you haven’t tried these techniques, you gotta get to your craft table and get inky!
